After being taken ill whilst on duty at Wylam Wharf, Sunderland, fell over quayside into the River Wear. Although rescued, he died shortly afterwards.
Whist patrolling Wearmouth Dock, Sunderland, tripped on a broken kerbstone, fell into dock and was drowned.
Whilst on duty at the Half Tide Basin, South Dock, Sunderland, tripped on a length of chain and was drowned.
Whilst on duty at Londonderry Drops, South Docks, Sunderland missed footing, fell into dock and sustained a broken neck.
Whilst engaged at the scene of a serious fire at Joshua Wilson & Son's warehouse, Lombard Street / Walton Lane in the East End of Sunderland, sustained multiple injuries as a result of a building collapse.
Whilst working on board the steam fireboat, Fire Queen on the River Wear at Sunderland on 23rd November, 1912, sustained internal injuries, resulting in his death.
Whilst on duty at Bodlewell Lane ferry landing in the East End of Sunderland, fell into the River Wear and was drowned in mysterious circumstances.
Whilst reporting for duty in response to an air raid warning, was killed when his auto cycle was in collision with a taxi at Elwin Terrace, Pallion, Sunderland.
